FALL FLING..........IT'S A LUAU

Mom and I posing on the "beach", mom was playing a few tunes on an inflatable ukulele...

The girl on the left won the hula contest, of course, she's Hawaiian or something, piece of cake.
Everything was beautifully decorated.
The Chickadees.....we had a good turn out.
The lady on the left is 92 years old, and danced all day long!
The "band"...Nice and Easy....they were very funny and entertaining too.
The hula hoop contest.....
The poi ball contest.
There were about 300 ladies there.
Some lady put on a fat suit and did the hula...she was wearing a coconut bra and a horrible mask.
I came in second in the hula contest, there were about 50 contestants, so I was pretty happy.
The Cabana boys
Many ladies were rockin'

Limbo.....how low can you go.
Finally, the chicken dance.

My trophy, it's on the mantle ....lol....like I'm really talented or something....lol

Lunch at the Leaky Bucket

It was a gorgeous day, and we enjoyed the sunshine coming in the windows.
Marilyn and Peggy.
The hummingbirds were busy too.
We were going to play bingo, but instead we just drew numbers and picked our own prize, which was really fun, because there were some really great prizes.
A poem was read about the size of "Boobs"
Some more birds outside the windows.

Christmas in July.....only in August

The Chickadees met at Sharon's Restaurant in Salem for a Christmas in August.
As you can see, the tables were decorated in Christmas decorations.

We had a very young pink hatter visiting with great grandma.
Our placemats were made by our hostesses, they were very pretty and festive.
Some announcements were read.

And we had our very own Christmas Elf....

The Luau

Everybody loves a Hukilau....yes, we are doing the hula...
The Red Hat Chickadees gathered for an afternoon Luau at the Glenwood acres community bldg.
Our special guest was that scallywag, Captain Jack Sparrow...of the Caribbean.

Many of us had photos taken with the notorious captain from "Pirates of the Caribbean",better watch that sword, he looks serious...mom.
Captain Jack looks on as I demonstrate my hula talents....he doesn't look too impressed.... but I digress.......
Back to the Luau...here we have our lovely Red Hat ladies..............
Red Hat ladies.......incognito......

Everyone dressed for the occasion, many had authentic Hawiian attire.....
Everyone enjoyed the food and friendship.

and, we all made our own ice cream sundaes..
The piniata was beaten to a pulp after he was knocked down from the ceiling. Lots of goodies and prizes spilled out everywhere.
These two ladies were wearing the palm tree..
We ended the festivities with a hula lesson, taught by yours truly...ok, so I'm Irish, but that's why we have the internet, and that's where I learned the "Hukilau" dance, which is used during the fishing festivals. These pictures are a little blurred, since I extracted them from the video, which will be coming soon...
Mom and I had a great time hosting the Luau for our Red Hat friends, and they all enjoyed it too, and joined right in the fun..thanks to everyone for making it a spectacular event.

To those of you who had your pictures taken with Capt. Sparrow, I will have prints for you at next months meeting. If you want see how they all turned out, just send me at email to : witchywoman.49@gmail.com...
